April is Financial Literacy Month

Financial education is a core value of the Credit Union Movement, and April is the perfect time for you to share your support for financial literacy with your members, staff, and the communities you serve.

Help raise funds to support these important programs at your credit union.

  • The Millionaire’s Club Financial Education Program: A fun, educational, in-school Club to help students become financially independent
  • College and Trade School Scholarships: For members who are students
  • Financial Literacy Grants: Help credit unions offer workshops, financial counseling, and financial education for members
  • Certified Financial Counselor Training: For credit union employees to learn new skills and help their members with personal finances

Celebrate Financial Literacy Month, involve your members and staff, and have fun doing it! Inform your staff that you’ll be celebrating April as Financial Literacy Month.

  • Ask your staff to invite every member they serve to support the Foundation’s financial literacy programs. “Would you like to make a donation in support of financial literacy?”
  • Suggest a donation as small as $1.
  • Every participating member receives either a donor sticker to wear or a recognition sign to display in an area you designate.
  • Please forward your donations to the Foundation by the end of April. They will be applied to financial education grants and programs.

Include information about your Financial Literacy Month observance in your communications to members and on your website:
